SCOPE:
Kim Engineering supported the development of a new three-story, 187,735 GSF Collections Storage Facility at the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum Support Center. The facility includes dedicated collections support areas and mechanical rooms. Scope of work involved civil and geotechnical support for deep foundations, driven steel H piles, pad and grade beam foundations, slab-on-grade, and cast-in-place elevated concrete slabs. The building is framed with structural steel and clad in insulated precast concrete panels to meet institutional performance and preservation standards.
